Grooming Questions
Your first visit to Dappa Dogs?
On your first visit to Dappa Dogs, we would ask that if possible allow an extra 5-10 minutes for when you arrive, this is to ensure that we can be sure we have all the necessary details about you and your dog. Of particular note; are there any medical or behavioural problems that we should be aware of etc?.
Also, we can find out as accurately as we can what style of groom you prefer for your dog. So if possible, please allow a small amount of time when you visit Dappa Dogs for the first time.
How long do I need to leave my dog?
We always aim to be prompt, as we appreciate time is important to you. But equally important is the fact that we need to be thorough, careful & respectful of your dog. We usually require around 3-4 hours to complete a full groom on most breeds.
Your dog will be booked in at a specific time and we will give you an estimated pick-up time. All appointments are staggered throughout the day. Once ready, we’ll call or send you a text. If you have specific time requirements, please advise at the time of your booking and we will endeavour to accommodate your needs.
What if my dog is really nervous?
If your dog is nervous, we would ask that you try and allow us a little more time for his/her appointment. This is to allow them to watch all that is going on in the salon, hear all the different sounds and smell all that they need to. Often time in a new environment for a dog is best utilised when left on there own, so they can acclimatise to the new surroundings. So when it is their turn, at least some concerns and fears will have subsidised to an extent.
This unfortunately is an occupational hazard for dog groomers. All our staff are fully accepting in the fact that dogs will bark. All staff are issued with a set of appropriate standard ear defenders for this and other safety reasons.
If you know or even think that your dog may bite, we would appreciate you informing us at the time of your appointment. Our staff are very well trained and fully aware that most any dog is capable of biting, but it is much appreciated if we know in advance.
In certain circumstances it may be necessary to muzzle a dog. This is done for the safety of both the dog and the groomer. In the unlikely event we cannot groom your dog or complete the the requested service, we will contact you as soon as possible and advise you of the situation.
It is rare that we are unable to groom a dog, it has happened on occasion. Again, our policy in these matters is observed for the safety of both your dog and the groomer.
Is there any discount for more than 1 dog at time?
We don’t offer discounts for more than one dog, but we do offer discounts for regular visits of 4 weeks or less. What a lot of our clients do, is they have there regular groom every 6-8 weeks and then they have a Mini Groom and or a Wash & Blow Dry in between to keep their dog's coat in top condition. This attracts a 10% discount at each visit.
So if you visit Dappa Dogs every 4 weeks or less, you will receive a 10% discount every single time!
Sorry, we don't do anal glands as they are classed as an internal organ and as such it is best done by a veterinarian. We would always refer you to vets.
What if my dog is really matted?
If your dog is matted, we will advise you when you arrive with your dog as to what is and isn't possible. Sometimes it may be possible to work out the matts, but in the event that this would cause undue stress on your dog we reserve the right to not carry out your wishes.
Our #1 concern is always the well being of your dog.
Where it is possible to remove the matt's without any undue stress caused to your dog, there may be a small extra charge, as this usually takes longer than the normally allotted time for the groom.
General Questions
Can I drop my dog off earlier than their appointment time?
Yes, please call, email or use the comments section if booking online to inform us that you would like to drop your dog off early. It is usually not a problem at all, but if you could please let us know in advance, it would be very appreciated.
What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?
With due consideration being given to other clients who may need an appointment, please allow at least 24 hrs notice.
More then 24 hrs notice:
There is no cancellation fee for appointments cancelled with over 24 hrs notice.
Less than 24 hrs notice:
Where an appointment is cancelled within a 24 hrs of the scheduled appointment time, there may be a 50% cancellation fee applied. If we are able to refill the appointment, the cancellation fee may be waived at the discretion of the salon manager.
What if I forget about the appointment?
If an appointment is missed, just as with a cancellation within 24 hrs, your appointment may attract a 50% no show fee.
Where an appointment is missed, there may be a 50% no-show fee applied. If we are able to refill the appointment, the no-show fee may be waived at the discretion of the salon manager.
Where a client continually misses appointments, we reserve the right to refuse the client any future use of our services.
Toileting before an appointment!
For hygiene reasons, please allow your dog to take a toilet break as close as possible to the time of their appointment, thank you. If necessary, please allow them to go before entering the salon.
Your assistance with this particular point is hugely appreciated, as it makes for a far more hygienic and pleasant working environment.
If possible, please exercise your dog before their appointment, as the removal of excess energy can make the grooming process a much more pleasurable experience for both the groomer and your dog.
Do I need to bring a collar and lead?
If you could, please bring a collar and lead when attending your appointment. For our salons located within an Animates pet stores, it is policy to have all dogs on a lead, in a crate or carried at all times. Your assistance in this matter is most appreciated, thank you.
Please advise us of any medical or behavioural issues that you are aware of, or have arisen since your last appointment.
Please don't take your dog swimming or give them a bath prior to their appointment, as we often have to spend more time preparing your dog’s coat and this may result in a small extra charge.
What if I am not satisfied with my dog’s groom or service?
Grooming Service:
It is policy that if you are not satisfied with the grooming service/s for your dog’s groom from Dappa Dogs, we will rectify the situation for free and where that is not possible, we will carry out the same service for your dog free of charge the next time he / she visits Dappa Dogs!
Customer Service:
If you were not satisfied with the service you received from any member of the team, we would ask that; in the first instance, you contact the manager of the said salon and explain your grievance and the manager will be more than happy to rectify the situation.
In the event that the grievance is relating to the manager; or the team member in charge on the day in question, please email the details to info @ dappadogs.co.nz. You will be contacted as soon as possible to discuss the situation and your grievance will be dealt with in the strictest of confidence at all times.
It is our aim to provide a level of service that is second to none and we take any grievance extremely seriously.

How do I book an appointment online?
It's really easy! Just click the "Book Now" button and it will take you to our pages on ezybook.co.nz. Here you can check the availability of appointments and then follow the steps to make an appointment.
How do I know it is a confirmed appointment?
All appointments booked online are confirmed appointments, as soon as you click confirm, an email is sent to your inbox as well.
You will also receive a further email approximately 2 days prior to your appointment as a quick reminder.
How long does it take to make an appointment online?
First Time Users:
The first time you book an appointment online at Dappa Dogs, it may take about 3-4 minutes. After your first appointment, you will be sent a validation code, this needs to be copied into the validation box in ezybook in order to make subsequent appointments.
Subsequent Bookings:
Once you have used the system a couple of times, it can take less than a minute to make appointment.
Can I check my appointments online?
Absolutely, just go to ezybook.co.nz, log in and go to “my ezybook” and click the “upcoming bookings” tab on the left..
You need to log in to make subsequent appointments after your first one or make amendments to your current appointments.
Go to the “contact us” tab in ezybook or click here and use the forgotten password function. We do not have access to anybodies password for security purposes.
Can I re-schedule or cancel an appointment online?
Yes you can, just log in to view all your current appointments.

3. Click on “show booking”, here you can cancel an appointment. If you need to re-schedule, just make another appointment as normal!

Can I make changes to appointments booked online over the phone or email?
Absolutely, just call or email the salon and they will be more than happy to assist you in making any amendments to your appointments, whether they have been booked online or otherwise.
Can I book more than 1 dog in at a time?
Yes you may, you just need to make individual appointments.
Each appointment is designed for 1 dog at a time, so as soon as you have made your first booking, just repeat the process.
Can I add another service or Spa Treatment to appointment I have already confirmed?
The easiest way to add a spa treatment or further service to appointment is to give the salon a quick call and they can update it,
Pricing Questions
The standard price for grooming your dog is based on your dog being of standard breed size, and the coat being in reasonable condition on arrival at the salon. A small amount of de-knotting or de-matting is built into the price of every groom, but where there is a lot of extra work involved, there may be a small additional charge for the extra time taken.
That said, we will only de-matt a dog's coat where we feel that no undue stress or suffering will be caused to your dog. You will be advised of any potential extra cost when we see your dog and also if your requests are possible to achieve.
What if we need to use another member of staff?
If we need to utilise a second member of staff for a period of time (10 minutes +) to assist in the grooming of your dog. Often we need another person to keep your dog calm whilst we are doing their nails or trimming around those sensitive areas! If the second member of staff isn't required for more than 10 minutes, there is no charge.
Late collection after our normal closing time?
There may be a small charge if your dog is picked up after closing, which is charged at $20 per every 30 minutes.
How do you price a mixed breed dog?
The best way, is to see your dog in person and our groomers will give you an accurate estimate for the price of a groom. If you are requesting a price over the phone, we would ask you a number questions to ascertain as accurate a picture as possible to give you an estimate, but this would only be an estimate until we could see your dog in person.
If you are booking online and need an idea of price, we advise that you use the most like breed form the list as a guide, bearing in mind that the prices are based on your dog being of normal size for the breed and their coat being in reasonable condition on arrival at the salon.
What if my dog is really matted?
A certain amount of time is built into the price of a groom or wash & blow dry to remove normal matting and knots.
If your dog is very matted there may be an extra charge purely because it takes us a lot longer to prepare your dog's coat. It is charged at $15 per 15 minutes.
Please be aware that if we believe the removal of the matts will cause your dog undue stress, we reserve the right to deal with the coat in the most humane and kind way to make your dog comfortable. This may mean clipping off the coat, but we will always endeavour to advise you of this on arrival at the salon.
What if my dog has really dirty bottom?
If your dog has a particularly dirty rear end, there may be an extra charge for excessive faeces removal. Normally an extra $10, up to a maximum of $20 dependent on the severity.
A Mini Groom in between normal grooms helps immensely to keep the sanitary areas in a low maintenance condition.
Do you have any cancellation costs?
With due consideration being given to other clients who may need an appointment, please allow at least 24 hrs notice.
More then 24 hrs notice:
There is no cancellation fee for appointments cancelled with over 24 hrs notice.
